Dr. Joyce is a native of Southern California and pleased to be practicing in this area. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of California at San Diego, and graduated with clinical honors from the New England College of Optometry.
Dr. Joyce loves what he does. His passion for vision perception led him to a career in Optometry; and he is trained in the most up to date advancements in eye care. He is committed to providing outstanding treatment, and is grateful for the opportunity to enhance the quality of life of his patients by helping them achieve optimal vision.
There is lots of great new technology in the eye world, and Dr. Joyce is dedicated to advancing the field of vision science. He has held positions in research and development in the contact lens and ophthalmic lens industry, and has served as the principle clinical investigator on various studies geared toward the development of new lens materials. He is published in articles and text books as well as ophthalmic journals regarding various new technologies in vision care. He holds patents for lens design, helped found Gunnar Optiks and created lens technology for their product, and was actively involved in the creation of Synergeyes, a hybrid contact lens company in San Diego.
Dr. Joyce is happiest when he is at the helm of a sailboat. He also enjoys traveling, surfing, diving and standup paddle-boarding. Dr. Joyce is involved with a variety of local civic and non-profit organizations, including supporting Lion’s Club and Rotary in providing pro bono eye care in various clinics. The Lion’s club recently awarded him with their highest award, the Melvin Jones Fellow Award, for his dedicated humanitarian service. He is currently working with the Rotary Club in their eye clinic in Mexico for the purpose of bringing much needed eye care to the underserved children of the area. Dr. Joyce is also proud to be the eye doctor to the Storm, Lake Elsinore’s A-class minor league baseball team.
